Volunteering at Heathrow

We are proud that our Heathrow Volunteers are continuing after the success of the London Olympics and Paralympics. We provide our volunteers with all the skills and knowledge needed to help us deliver some of the world's most thrilling sporting events and to support the terminal with seasonal support, helping to improve the passenger experience by adding personalised assistance and a little bit of magic to each terminal.

The volunteers are a unique and special part of Heathrow who invest time and passion to help passengers with wayfinding, repatriate lost items or family members or provide reassurance to anxious passengers. A friendly smile is sometimes all it takes to make a real difference to someone's day.

Your commitment to us

To join Heathrow Volunteers, you’ll need to:

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Take pride in welcoming the world to Heathrow and support passengers
  • Be eligible for an airport ID and pass security checks

As a volunteer at Heathrow, you may be working in secure areas which will require an airport ID card. As you'd expect this will mean passing a few security checks. Don't worry though, we'll take care of everything - all your information will remain confidential and won't be used for any other purposes.

  • You will need to be available to commit to six shifts per year that will always include weekend and evening options
  • Attend training sessions, so you'll be fully prepared for your shifts and familiar with aviation security

This will allow us to explain your role, make sure you are happy with what you'll be doing and where you'll be placed.

The Volunteer Ambassador programme is currently full, please keep an eye on the website for an update on when we will be recruiting again. Thank you for your interest in the programme.
